I was inspired by some posts in the MapPorn subreddit that showed the nearest country at any point in several countries, such as Russia[1]https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/hjr9qg/the_nearest_country_to_you_when_in_russia/, France[2]https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/hlpyh5/nearest_country_when_in_metropolitan_france/, and the United States[2]https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/hlh7ox/the_nearest_country_to_everywhere_in_the_us/ to create a similar map for the entire world. I used a python script, available at https://github.com/geobica/bl/tree/master/closest_foreign_country, to automate the process.

With a simple alteration to the code, I also created a map showing the furthest country from any point on land:
