I was inspired by some posts in the MapPorn subreddit that showed the nearest country at any point in several countries, such as Russia

https://github.com/geobica/bl/tree/master/closest_foreign_country, to automate the process.
With a simple alteration to the code, I also created a map showing the
furthest country from any point on land:
Note: The grey region in South America represents the disputed Spratly Islands.
